Event FestivitiesThanksgiving Tradition
The Granville Island Turkey Trot is a hallmark event for Granville Island and the Vancouver run community. This year, October 1-15, you may run Virtual Race distances of 5KM and 10KM, or combo both for a bonus medal. Limited spots will be open for the 10KM in-person race on Thanksgiving Monday!
Traditional services like gear check, race day package pickup, water stations on-course, and entertainment will be limited or removed. While we hope restrictions will remain lifted, our local non-profit is being cautious with our return and respectful of volunteers who may not want to be in close contact to runners after the long COVID-19 shutdowns. The in-person race will include an official Start Line, Finish Line, timing and race results. For the Virtual Race, you’re asked to please find your own pedestrian friendly route and share your excitement online @runvancanada #runvan.
The Granville Island Turkey Trot encourages you to run, walk or stroll over Thanksgiving Weekend. This family-friendly, fun event encourages runners of all abilities to join in. Traditionally the race is well know for its post-race food and festive vibes, however, the plan is to pause these for 2021. As we start to put the pandemic behind us, some will be taking it slower than others. Please be respectful and kind as you consider others’ situations and personal choices. You’re encouraged to still add to the festive atmosphere online @runvancanada #runvan
